Tom heads up CCA’s Virginia office. He’s been active in marketing, advertising, and higher education for over 30 years. Tom comes to CCA after six years at Royall & Company, where as director of client development he helped create enrollment-communications plans for more than 100 colleges and universities. With his extensive knowledge of higher education and secondary education and his expertise in marketing-communications, Tom brings a unique perspective to CCA and offers new resources for our clients.
Tom has also owned an advertising agency, a direct-response business, and held management positions with Earle Palmer Brown Advertising, North American Marketing, and the Commonwealth of Virginia. He has presented talks and published articles on marketing, customer service, sales, and proactive lifestyles. In addition, Tom frequently speaks to business, school, community, and religious groups on educational issues, values, and his experience dealing with the death of a child.
The Direct Marketing Association of Washington honored Tom with their Long Term Service Award and Volunteer of the Year award. A member of the Henrico County (Va.) School board for 12 years, Tom has also served on numerous business, community, civic, educational, sports, youth, and health-related boards and commissions. The Interactive Marketing Institute at Virginia Commonwealth University has established a scholarship in his name.
Tom is a graduate of the University of Richmond and served on the Dean’s Advisory Committee at the School of Continuing Studies from 1998 to 2009. Tom and Betsy, his wife of almost 40 years, enjoy long weekends in Duck, NC, and spend as much time as possible with their daughter Kate, son-in-law Ty, and the “lights of their lives”– grandchildren Emma and Trip. When not working in the CCA Richmond office, Tom can often be found riding his road bicycle or fly-fishing in the James River.
