Promoting Creative Communication Associates (which we call CCA) has never come naturally to me. As someone who believes in and trusts the power of branding and the integrity of good work, it’s been my inclination to celebrate our clients’ successes. Or, as David Ogilvy would say, “to never get between the client and the footlights.”
But we’re in the business of branding and marketing, which means we also need to be great at selling ourselves, in addition to helping colleges and universities promote groundbreaking, innovative, and important work that they’re doing.
So, I’ve been spending a lot of time on campuses and social media promoting CCA. I’m proud of our amazing track record—and that we’ve won a “Best of Show” for our branding and marketing communications work for our college or university partners 14 out of the last 15 years. I talk proudly about CCA’s amazing team and their successes—the work that strengthens a client’s brand that launches a capital campaign, increases net tuition revenue, and grows enrollment.
But what I really want to share are the three things that have consistently made CCA the leading brand agency and partner in strategic marketing to higher education clients for more than three decades.
1. Culture is paramount.
God first. Family second. Work third. That’s the basis of our culture at CCA. Our team is empowered by that simple belief. To care first and foremost for themselves and their families so that they can come to work energized to succeed in the office. People will give their best at work if they trust that the office culture is truly tireless in its loyalty to their happiness, health, and well-being. Yes, our team has stayed late to perfect a project, campaign, or presentation. But our culture encourages balance and extremely high levels of energy and productivity, not long hours in the office. We expect our team to enjoy free time, take vacations, cut out early on Friday, or take a personal day to spend time with family, friends, and kids. The energy and enthusiasm our people gain outside the office translates into an office culture of brilliance and creativity. It’s that spirit that is vital to our success.

This vision statement doesn’t just define us; it keeps us on our path. In order to succeed, one must know thyself. It’s the best thing you can do for you, your staff, and your business.
3. We love our work and our clients.
We work for colleges and universities and believe deeply in the transformative power of education. Our teams form close relationships with the hardworking people at institutions of all types, all over the country—simply because we love this work and because we believe in the greatness of the people who are, in essence, the keepers of our future at these great institutions. You know as well as I do that you do your best work when you’re passionate about something. I’m proud to say that we’ve truly become experts at higher education branding and marketing.
