Excelsior College Partners with CCA to Conduct Communication Audit
Excelsior College, a world leader in distance education, has selected Creative Communication Associates to launch a comprehensive audit of all of the College’s external communications.
In an effort to improve and maximize the effectiveness of communications to prospects, current students, and alumni, the College has invited CCA to review and analyze a full year of all print, web, and email communications to these key target audiences. At the conclusion of the audit, CCA will present Excelsior with a report designed to help the College improve message consistency, eliminate redundancy, and ensure that every communication effort, in every medium, highlights and reinforces Excelsior’s brand identity.
Excelsior is recognized nationwide and globally as a leading provider of flexible, affordable, non-resident degree programs. Founded in 1971 and based in Albany, NY, Excelsior is a private, non-profit institution with 30,000 students and 130,000 alumni worldwide. Academic offering include more than 30 undergraduate, graduate, and certificate programs in four schools—Nursing, Health Sciences, Liberal Arts, and Business & Technology. Flagship programs include electronics engineering technology, nuclear engineering technology, and nursing. The College’s School of Nursing has twice been designated a Center of Excellence in Nursing Education by the National League for Nursing.
“For an online institution like Excelsior, building a cohesive and effective communications strategy is of critical importance,” says Rick Langdon, CCA’s senior director of client services and the manager of the Excelsior project. “Each unit at Excelsior disseminates hundreds of unique communications a year. We want to help them streamline this process.”
With an average age of 40, the typical Excelsior student is a busy working adult with at least some college credit from another institution. U.S. News & World Report has identified Excelsior as a major destination for transfer students and students over 25, while Military Advanced Education magazine has recognized Excelsior as a top “military-friendly college.” The College is also committed to serving the educational needs of underrepresented minorities.
