Meet a CCA Member: Nick FredettePosted on January 17, 2018
Nick Fredette knows everything there is to know about the digital world. When he isn’t answering our constant questions about keyboard shortcuts or showing us how to do things in WordPress, the digital marketing strategist is working with analytics, reporting, and email marketing. He grew up in Cohoes and went to Houghton College, where he studied communications and played soccer. Nick came to CCA last year after working as a client advisor at Informz in Saratoga Springs. Read more about Nick below.
What’s on your bucket list for this year?
2018 is already looking to be a great year. I have vacations planned to Costa Rica and Key West, and I’m closing on my first home. As far as bucket list items, I think I’d like to scuba dive in both of those places.
What’s your favorite keyboard shortcut and why?
Aside from the basics like copy and paste, I think my favorite would be Cmd+1, 2, 3, etc. (within Chrome) to quickly select a browser tab to work in.
What do you like about higher ed?
I like higher ed because it’s so much bigger than just selling a product. My education was transformative for me, and I know it can be for many people, so it’s huge if we can help students find the right fit for them.
What drew you to digital marketing?
I think I’m young enough that I’ve been exposed to digital marketing for almost my whole life, but old enough that I’ve seen so many pieces of the digital world in their inception. I think that the more this field evolves, the more easily we’ll be able to match people up to the things they’re looking for.
If you could play one instrument you aren’t able to now, what would it be?
CELLO DAWG! I love music and I’ve always wanted to soak up as much as I can. I learned guitar and then moved on to drums, bass, and piano (though I’m not an expert at any), but I love the sound of string instruments. As great as violin, viola, and upright bass are, cello just has an incredible sound that I think would be so great to be able to produce on my own.
Which famous person would you like to be best friends with?
As much as I’m tempted to say Mike Tyson, I think I’d have to go with Santi Cazorla. He’s a player for English Premier League team Arsenal, and he always seems to be having a great time. Despite him being injured for much of the last 2 to 3 years, by all accounts he’s always a jokester and always has high spirits.
